Lessons for Youth
and Home School Students

Fun, fitness, consent, and courage are just some of the things that children can learn and practice with fencing lessons.

Through individual and small group sessions that are designed to educate and bring dreams into reality, I aim to help students grow in their skill as fencers, as well as their resilience and emotional intelligence.

Lessons are custom designed to meet the needs of parents and students, with the ability to modify the content to satisfy the needs and requirements of each student’s curriculum.

Educational Presentations

Teachers! Are you looking for something to spice up your social studies class?

Lectures and presentations for students in grades seven through nine on the martial and material cultures of ancient Greece, the Medieval period, and the Renaissance.

Learn about the arms and armour of the Ancient Greek citizen soldier, the chivalry of the High Middle Ages, and the scientific fencing of the Italian masters.

Not teaching grades seven through nine? There are ways to relate swordplay to lessons on fitness, science, mathematics, literature, art and theatre. Feel free to reach out and learn about how you can add swordplay to your lessons today!

Adult Lessons

The sword is for everyone. People of all ages, genders, and orientations are welcome to learn and share in these beautiful and noble arts.

From the mighty sword in two hands, to the graceful rapier, to the ever practical spear, most weapons and topics are available as a lesson.

Worried about a loss of conditioning, or coming off of an injury? Whatever your level of expertise or physicality, the lesson’s content will be custom designed to fit your wishes and abilities.

Instructor Training

I also offer training for teachers and organizations looking to add archery and fencing to their available lessons, or improve and expand the skills of their existing instructors.

Aaron Lamontagne

Lead Instructor

I began my career teaching Italian swordplay at the Academie Duello in 2012 with teaching archery at its summer Knight Camp. By the time I left the Academie in 2020, it was simpler to list the things I wasn’t teaching!

I have completed certification courses in teaching Historical European Martial Arts through the Academie Duello.

I have previously coordinated demonstrations for the public, directed the Academie’s award winning Knight Camp, led lessons for corporate team building events, youth groups and schools, and have presented original research to teachers during the BCSSTA’s annual conference.

My passion is teaching medieval martial culture, ethics, history, and the disciplines of historical rapier, polearms, sidesword, longsword, dagger, and grappling.

Testimonials

The self confidence, discipline and respect you taught [my sons] in this short period of time was absolutely amazing. You were so professional and just a brilliant teacher.
— Jody S
Aaron taught my son for at least 5 years. Aaron was kind, caring and yet firm. He focused on having fun but also learning and discipline. My son found a place where he felt safe and seen. As a mother you can’t ask for much more. Aaron was always friendly and my son felt he was always there to help. My son looked up to him. I am so happy for Aaron for his new endeavors and would recommend him and his classes to anyone!
— Mia M
To say Aaron has had a profound and positive impact on my kids’ lives would be an understatement. When one of my kids went though some tough teen years, Aaron offered them opportunities to intern and volunteer and provided emotional support, without judgement, as they struggled. His empathy was genuine. He spoke openly with me about seeing his younger self in them and recognizing some the difficult experiences and feelings they were going through.
Through his encouragement, my kid completed a demanding training program that they might not otherwise have finished. This will always be a source of pride for them, earned through hard work and perseverance. The discipline, resilience and commitment he taught them will stay with them throughout their life.

Aaron has been a mentor and a friend to our family, at once inspiring my kids to challenge themselves and supporting them when they struggled. I am deeply grateful to know him.

The Values of Golden Triangle Fencing

Agency, Acceptance, Accountability

Agency
It is my firm belief that the sacred quality of human life is agency. The ability to affect your destiny freely and independently is an integral aspect of my practice and teaching of the art. At all times, students are specifically empowered to direct the nature of their training, and to dictate the boundaries of their safety and comfort.

Acceptance
There will be no restrictions for race, sexual orientation, gender, or disabilities, and there will be no tolerance of bigotry of these groups or the intersection of these groups.

Accountability
Mistakes are not just an accepted part of martial growth and practice, but an inevitable aspect of one’s journey as a person. Accountability for mistakes is what grows us and improves us as martial artists, and as ethical people.

I will continue to endeavor to accept all feedback with gratitude and humility. Regardless of the nature of the feedback, I will take it seriously and take into account the power and privilege I possess.
